International signers commonly present a current passport, but no specific credential is guaranteed to satisfy the platform, notary, document, or recipient. Check expiration, physical condition, photograph clarity, and platform support.
The document name should be consistent with the ID. Resolve differences involving middle names, multiple surnames, transliteration, marriage, abbreviations, or spelling with the document preparer or recipient before signing.
Review the acceptable identification guide if the ID is expired, damaged, difficult to scan, or uses a different name.
The platform may use credential analysis, identity proofing, device checks, and knowledge-based authentication where applicable. A remote session requires more than displaying an ID on camera.

The notary and a document witness are different roles. A document may request one or more witnesses in addition to notarization, while many documents do not request witnesses at all. The document, applicable law, and receiving organization determine whether witnesses are required.

Every witness should be identified during booking and prepared to join with suitable technology and identification.
